We all get them, unlabeled tubes. What do you do with them? Throw them away, right?
I’m always one to have a great teaching moment with our friendly nurses that want pop down to grab them up and label them like it’s no big deal.
So, I have a drawer full of unlabeled tubes. When the nurse comes down, thinking they are going to take their tubes back and slap some labels on them, well, I’ll afford them that opportunity.
The stipulation is they must figure out which are theirs in the drawer full of many, many, many unlabeled tubes. I’ve never seen the same nurse more than once.
I think my lesson works well and we all get a laugh at their face when the drawer is opened and they see 40 or 50 different tubes and come to the realization, they screwed this one up.
