Welcome to the fun side of clinical lab profession!
There are still quite a number of people who don’t know we exist. Some people already know what we do, and what our role is in healthcare. But quite often, these people perceive us differently than any other healthcare professionals—we are anything but fun!
They think that we are nerds to the bone, and that our favorite past-time chats consist of discussing textbook contents and how to solve the world’s problems. And if we are by ourselves, we like to just read textbooks and to study how to improve the lab. They typically label us as boring or too serious—all work and no play. Deep in our hearts, it makes us want to scream! WTF?! ? We are fun too! We have our own lab humor, and we definitely have a lot of LOL moments. Somehow, we are the mislabeled specimens! It’s time to correct the mislabeling.
Our LOL moments prove that FUN in our profession is underrated. Our lab meme, GIF, pictures, and short funny clips prove that we are creative towards achieving FUN in our profession. This is our niche. This is our special place to share and nurture our indelible funny stories in and outside the lab. This is simply our place to laugh and have fun.
We know that there are already TV shows about nurses and doctors, e.g. Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs, ER, House, and Nurse Jackie. Maybe one day, just maybe, someone will make a TV show based on the lives of clinical lab professionals?
