MRSA

Doctor yelling at me for not reporting MRSA.

Me: But, doctor it’s Staphylococcus epidermis.

Infosys by IGTSoft Custom Laboratory Software Inventory tracker Credentialing Task manager

Doctor: But it’s resistant to oxacillin, right?

Me: MRSA stands for Methicillin Resistant STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS.

Doctor: You should still report it as MRSA.

But Staphylococcus epidermidis is Staphylococcus aureus’ long lost cousin. Aren’t they technically the same? **end sarcasm**

I really don’t want to be called by my cousin’s name. So there’s that 😫

If a doctor doesn’t know the difference between MRSA and MRSE, then we’re in trouble 🥴
