I worked as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in a small town hospital. Being in a small rural hospital, we pretty much do everything from drawing blood & running tests, to system troubleshooting and quality control.
One day we had a young lady who was deathly afraid of needles. She was sobbing, gagging, petrified…the whole works! But my friend really knew how to calm her down.
“Don’t worry about it.” she assured her. “It’s my first day on the job and I just looked up on YouTube how to draw blood using a butterfly needle.”
The patient had this look on her face that is pretty hard to forget. Then my friend told her that she’s kidding, drew her, and she was in and out just like that.
The patient started laughing about her comment and said, “I’m sure you have done this quite a few times before. I didn’t even feel a thing.” 😂
