A patient brought a stool specimen to the lab on a cut crystal butter dish with a cover. It was sitting on the dish (formed specimen) covered and the cover was taped to the butter plate.
She waited while we transferred the stool sample to a specimen jar. And took it dish back home.
Note to self: No thanks I’ve had dinner.

It is crazy the things people bring specimens in that they want back…dollar store plastic containers (like, I will seriously give you a dollar to go buy a new one…), jelly jars, coffee cup… people are strange.
I can’t believe she wanted it back…yuck!
Want some butter with your toast? No thanks! 🤢
