Another busy morning in the lab and I was assigned to work at our phlebotomy area. I called the next patient by her first name and this elderly grandma came up.
She was quite nice and enjoyed a good chat. I did my usual small talk to make the patient feel more at ease with the procedure. “Here comes the poke.”, I said.
“Oh! I’ll let you poke me any time”, she said.
“That sounded kinda weird.”, I said with a smirk on my face.”
She replied, “I didn’t mean that kind of poking.” Then she laughed! I can’t help but join in with her contagious laughter! I’m glad it was her who said it otherwise I’ll be in trouble 😀
