Right after his visit with his doctor, an elderly came to the lab to have his blood drawn. He was cussing and swearing pretty loud.
I tried to keep him calm and hopefully start a conversation. “What seems to be the problem?” I asked.
He showed me his discharge summary. “You see here? The doctor called me a Major S.O.B. This kind of language should not be tolerated in any hospital. Very unprofessional!”
I said in my most calm voice, “Sorry for the misunderstanding. I think your doctor meant that you are suffering from major shortness of breath. It’s not what you think it is”
He calmed down but never said a word until he left.
