A nurse came down to the lab to pick up an Albumin sample. As she walked up to the counter, she suddenly stopped, stared at me for a second, and blurted out, “Oh my God… are those your real eyes? Is that your real eye color?”
Without missing a beat, I looked right at her and said, “No… I stole them from the morgue.”
The change in her expression was instant. Her face went completely white for a split second, then turned bright red as the realization hit. A moment later we both burst out laughing.
Still laughing, she shook her head and said, “You lab people are sick.”
And honestly… coming from someone who works in a hospital, that felt like a compliment.
