This is one of my favorite stories…
My coworker was helping an old elderly couple with their stool specimen. The patient hands over the specimen to her, and she noticed that the sample was abnormally hot. She asks the patient why and the patient responded that she did what the doctor told her to do when collecting a stool sample…. collect a sample, then bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
My poor coworker had to explain to the patient that they’d need to recollect the sample. She then had to call the doctor. The doctor replied “Oh my goodness! I was joking with the patient! I didn’t think they’d take it seriously!” I wonder how that conversation went later?
