I used to work at this hospital where the ER beds are right next to each other, separated by a mere curtain. To keep things “private”, the curtain is drawn so at the very least the patients won’t be able to see each other, but unfortunately, you can still hear some of the ongoing conversation, including some that can be quite embarrassing.
One day, I went to the ER to draw blood from a guy who has some chest pain. As I was drawing him, I overheard a strange conversation from another guy on the next bed. Judging from his voice, he sound like an older fella, probably in his 70’s or something. They just took an XRAY of his rectum and found that he has a small jar inside of him, which I heard someone telling him that it needs to be surgically removed!
The nurse was trying to ask about the sequence of events that led to his unfortunate blockage. According to the guy, he was babysitting his grandson and went to grab a jar of Gerber. He didn’t see this wet spot on the kitchen floor that caused him to slip and fall on his jar of baby food. And that’s how the jar of baby food ended up inside his bum! Mystery solved!
I can hardly keep myself from laughing! That’s was probably the worse excuse I’ve heard for such an embarrassing accident. 😀
