You know that saying “Don’t judge the book by its cover”? Well, as lab techs, we also have our own version of it.
In the lab where i used to work, we do heavy multitasking and ECG is part of the job. That part where the patients have to somehow expose their chest area for the procedure? That is what this story is all about.
There was this time when a male colleague got a call from ER to do ECG on two female patients. He did the younger one first. That male colleague was quite naughty so he checked her out. She was petite, a looker with long, black shiny hair and maybe a cup C? When he asked her to pull up her blouse and bra so he can attach the electrodes, he was so surprised for the Cup C is actually a FLAT C. The push-ups she was wearing was not pushing anything at all!
He went on to the next patient. A late 60 year-old wrinkled grandmother. After explaining a bit of the procedure, he was so amused when granny immediately, with no inhibitions whatsoever like she was so used to getting ECG’s, pulled up her dress with no bra and exposed to him the most amazing Cup C he could have ever seen. He felt shocked and embarrassed thinking “HECK! THESE ARE NOT A GRANNY’S BREASTS!”
? And he left the ER with a “Wow!”
At times, specimen packaging is not everything. Lab Techs may receive perfectly packaged and labeled specimen but inside it is really QNS.
