Sample Dilution

Desired Final Volume (e.g. Use 3 for 3ml)
units
Desired Dilution (e.g. Use 20 for 1:20 Dilution)

Simple calculator to help you determine how much sample and diluent is needed to get a final solution with a known dilution factor.

Notes:

  • Make sure you are using the same unit for the sample and diluent. (e.g. milliliter, microliter)
  • Mix the right amount of sample and diluent needed. Mix properly to ensure accuracy. Use a vortex if available.

Principle:

To make a dilute solution without calculating concentrations, you can rely on a derivation of the above formula: (Final Volume / Solute Volume) = Dilution Factor
