pO2 Barometric Correction for EPOC Blood Gas

pO2 Reading
mmHg
Barometric Pressure
mmHg

Determines the corrected partial oxygen pressure (pO2) from the barometric pressure at current elevation in mmHg for EPOC Blood Gas Analyzers when running aqueous solutions.

Formula:

Infosys by IGTSoft Custom Laboratory Software Inventory tracker Credentialing Task manager

Corrected PO2 = PO2 reading + (2mmHg + 6% PO2 reading) x (760mmHg – Barometric pressure)/100mmHg

Principle:

PO2 readings will decrease by 2mmHg + 6% per 100mmHg barometric pressure under 760mmHg. Therefore, before comparing the gas readings with the published value assignments, the PO2 readings need to be corrected.
