Determine the number of cells per microliter (uL) using the hemocytometer manual cell count method for Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF)

Formula:

Infosys by IGTSoft Custom Laboratory Software Inventory tracker Credentialing Task manager

Cells/µL = # of cells counted x dilution / # of large squares counted x 0.1µL (chamber depth)

Principle:

Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) is a body fluid found in the brain and spine. The fluid is responsible for the protection of the brain’s cortex. Its cushion like support provides basic mechanical and immunological protection to the brain inside the skull. The CSF cell count is calculated to measure the number of red and white blood cells that are in cerebrospinal fluid.
